What is a mooshroom in Minecraft?

Mooshrooms are cow-like passive mobs that have mushrooms growing out of their skin. Like the normal cows you find in other areas of the overworld, they are passive mob creatures that just go by minding their own business. They don’t have much direction in their life unless they see fire, lava, or cliffs, which they will avoid.

While every Minecraft mooshroom you find will start out as a red mooshroom, they will change to a brown variant if struck by lightning. Brown mooshrooms struck by lightning will turn back into red mooshrooms. How to breed mooshrooms in Minecraft

While mooshrooms only spawn naturally on mushroom islands, you can also breed them like you do cows. If you have wheat on you, hold it in your hand, and nearby mooshrooms will walk toward you. Feeding wheat to them will cause hearts to begin appearing from them. When two mooshrooms are put into this love mode, they will walk toward each other and create a baby mooshroom. Baby mooshrooms will never have mushrooms on their back when they are kids. Mooshrooms that breed a baby will go into a cooldown period where you can not keep feeding them.

While brown mooshrooms do not spawn on their own, breeding two red mooshrooms has a very small chance of producing a brown baby mooshroom. The chances are much better when a brown mooshroom and a red mooshroom are put into love mode together. Two brown mooshrooms will guarantee a brown baby mooshroom will be made.

If you feed baby mooshrooms some wheat, green sparkles will appear from them. This denotes that the baby mooshroom growth cycle has been pushed forward a bit so that the baby grows into an adult faster. When they are an adult, giving them wheat will put them into love mode.

What to do with mooshrooms in Minecraft

• If you use shears on a Minecraft mooshroom, five of the colored mushrooms on its back will drop to the ground, and the mooshroom will irreversibly turn into a normal cow.

• With a bucket in hand, you can interact with a mooshroom to fill it with milk, like normal cows.
• In contrast to cows, though, using a bowl on a mooshroom ends in producing mushroom stew.
• Brown mooshrooms can be fed certain flowers to produce suspicious stew the next time they are milked with a bowl.
