The Minecraft Banner is a lesser-known feature, even though it has been in the game for some time. Minecraft Banner Designs provide a unique way to showcase your personality, and you can place them anywhere you’d like!
This guide will cover everything you need to know about Minecraft Banner Designs, Minecraft Banner Patterns, and more.
What Is A Minecraft Banner?
Unlike many of the blocks in Minecraft, a Minecraft Banner does not have a utility. Instead, it’s considered decorative.
A Banner is a long piece of decoration that can be plain, or you can place multiple designs on it. While a banner is considered a block of its own, you can put it either standalone on the ground or on walls. Either way, it will stand tall, showcasing its design.
The default Banner is a simple white, but you can choose to dye it with the in-game dyes to create a variety of designs.
How To Make A Minecraft Banner (MC Banners)
You can craft a Minecraft Banner (also known as MC Banners) by combining a set of matching Wool Blocks with a Stick.
Otherwise, you can acquire a Minecraft Banner from villagers by trading them emeralds. These Banners can vary in colors or patterns.
Once you’ve created a Banner, you’ll have to use a Loom to give it a pattern.
To create a Loom, combine two String with two Wooden Planks as follows:
Once placed, you can interact with the Loom to create Banner Designs.
How To Make Minecraft Banner Designs
Banner designs require a Banner and a dye. You can also add a Banner Pattern, which we’ll cover later. However, the Banner and dye combination opens up a list of Banner Designs you can choose from.
While you can stick with Minecraft Banner Designs as you’d like, you can craft Minecraft Banner Patterns for a more unique look. Let’s go over the Minecraft Banner Patterns.
Minecraft Banner Patterns
Minecraft Banner Patterns are a bit different than designs. Designs are the default options for a Banner, while a Pattern puts a distinguished icon, such as a Creeper, on it.
This image features the red Banner with the pink design, and then a Creeper Charge Banner Pattern with green dye on top of it.
What follows is how to make the different Banner Patterns in Minecraft. Each requires a piece of paper and a particular item.
#1. Creeper Charge
The Creeper Charge Banner Pattern requires a Creeper Head alongside the paper.
To find a Creeper Head, you must let a Charged Creeper defeat a normal Creeper. A Charged Creeper is struck by Lightning, which results in a much larger explosion than a normal Creeper.
The head should drop if a Charged Creeper blows up a normal Creeper.
#2. Thing
You can craft the Thing Banner Pattern with an Enchanted Golden Apple alongside the sheet of paper.
Unfortunately, you cannot craft an Enchanted Golden Apple. You must find one in a pre-generated structure such as a Dungeon, Ancient City, or a Bastion Remnant.
#3. Flower Charge
The Flower Charge Banner Pattern is super easy to make. All you need is to combine an Oxeye Daisy with the paper, and you can find these Daisies pretty much anywhere.
#4. Skull Charge
The Skull Charge Banner Pattern requires one Wither Skeleton Head. You can fight Wither Skeletons in Nether Fortresses, and each defeated one has a 2.5% chance of dropping a Skull. Getting one of these can take a while, but the process is worth it.
Otherwise, there are two other Patterns you cannot craft.
#5. Globe
You can acquire the Globe Banner Pattern by trading with a master-level cartographer. This means you’ll need to find a cartographer villager and trade with them until they’re at the highest level. Then, it will cost you eight emeralds.
#6. Snout
You can only find the Snout Banner Pattern in Bastion Remnants — one of the rarest areas in the Nether. Not only this, but finding a Bastion Remnant does not guarantee a Snout Banner Pattern. If a Remnant doesn’t generate one, you must find another and try again.
What’s fun about Minecraft Banner Patterns is mixing and matching the different colors and aesthetics. There are technically millions of combinations, and you can add up to six layers of Patterns! The possibilities are endless when it comes to Minecraft Banner Designs.
What Can I Do With A Minecraft Banner?
As mentioned previously, you can hang or place a Banner pretty much anywhere you’d like. Use them to distinguish your base from your friends or simply because you love the color scheme!
You can also use a Map with a standing Banner, and it will appear on that Map from then on. This is a great way to mark locations using the various colored Banners.
Banners can also go on Shields. After creating your Banner of choice, place it next to a Shield in the Crafting Table.
Believe it or not, you can use Banners as a fuel source in a Furnace as well. Even more interesting is that you can place a Banner under Note Blocks. This gives it a Bass sound that stands out from the typical Note Block sound.
Now that you’re aware of Minecraft Banner Designs, Patterns, and everything surrounding them, it’s time to make some with your friends!
