Throughout the years, playing survival mode in Minecraft has been a staple for players to challenge themselves by surviving through the days without dying. However, as more players join the game, survival has become too easy for some people.
There are four modes in Survival mode: Peaceful, Easy, Normal, and Hard. These four modes each have their own level of difficulty in terms of how often mobs spawn or how much damage mobs do. Hard mode is the most difficult option, but it has been dominated by skilled players as time passes.
To make the game even more challenging and enjoyable for players, the developers of Minecraft Bedrock previewed hardcore mode in the preview 1.21.0.20 release and officially added hardcore mode to the game in the 1.21.40 update. Hardcore mode was designed to have high stakes and push players to their limits. In this guide, we will teach you how you can activate Hardcore mode in Minecraft Bedrock Edition.
Hardcore Mode
Difficulty

Before jumping into a Hardcore world, you must first understand the mechanics of hardcore mode and why it is so difficult. Hardcore mode is a sub-category of Survival mode in Minecraft Bedrock and is set to the hardest difficulty in Minecraft. In Hardcore mode, mobs deal more damage, can spawn with potion buffs, zombies can break doors, and several other features that make your game even more difficult.
Respawning

The catch in Hardcore mode is that a player can only die once in the Minecraft world. This new feature introduces permanent death, meaning players will not be able to respawn once they die. If a player does die in Hardcore mode, they are able to respawn in Spectator mode from the death screen, allowing them to look at the world that is now lost.
Cheats

Hardcore mode also doesn’t allow players to enable cheats or use commands. Once you select Hardcore mode, commands and cheats are locked, meaning there will be no way to get your world back or escape certain death.
Enabling Hardcore Mode
Here are the step-by-step instructions for enabling Hardcore mode in Minecraft Bedrock edition:

You can click the “Don’t show me again” checkbox if you don’t want to see the message again. Then, begin your game by clicking the “Play in hardcore mode” button.
Notes

If you try to enable cheats by going to the Cheats tab, there will be a blue line that says “All cheats are disabled because you selected hardcore mode”. This is to ensure that players will not be able to enter any commands.
Playing Hardcore Mode
Playing Hardcore Mode is one of the toughest things you can do in Minecraft because one small mistake could get you killed. To continue surviving in the world, you will need to strategize your every plan and make sure you take the least amount of risk possible.
If you want to play with friends, you can create a multiplayer server and play with them. In multiplayer, Hardcore mode will affect every player in the server.
