How to Connect to Your Palworld Server (3 Methods)

Palworld enables you to play solo locally or in co-op mode without having to connect to a server. If you want to play with others over the internet, you’ll need to either set up a dedicated Palworld server or join one. In either case, you’ll need the server’s connection details or an invite code.

You can easily share the connection details for your server with anyone you want to invite to join the game. Once they have that information, they can connect to the server by opening Palworld and choosing the corresponding option.

In this article, we’ll explain why you might want to set up a dedicated hosting server for Palworld. Then, we’ll show you three methods to connect to that server. Let’s get to it!

How to Choose a Palworld Hosting Server

Before we show you how to connect to your Palworld server, let’s talk about what you should consider when choosing one.

First off, it’s important to note that you can set up your own Palworld server for multiplayer using any computer as long as it meets the game’s requirements. However, the experience tends to be far better using a dedicated server compared to a personal computer.

With a dedicated server, you should be able to access superior performance and near-perfect uptime. With a local server, you might struggle to optimize performance unless you have experience with server management.

Additionally, hosting your Palworld game on a dedicated server makes it easier to play with other people. Depending on which type of server you use, you might get access to hardware that can support dozens of concurrent players.

You’ll also want a web host that offers security features to protect your server from malicious bots and hackers. For example, look out for services that come with Distributed Denial of Service (DDoS) protection, managed backups, and real-time security monitoring.

How to Connect to a Palworld Server (2 Methods)

Once your server is up and running, you’ll want to connect to it. There are two ways to do this, let’s go over them now!

1. Connect to the Palworld Server via Its IP Address

Palworld enables you to connect to dedicated servers by specifying their IP address and the game port. To do this, go to the Palworld main menu and click on Join Multiplayer Game:

A new screen will open with a list of official servers. These are servers managed by the game developers and they usually don’t provide the best experience due to high latencies:

Some users also provide “community” servers. These are public or private servers that you can find in the Community Servers tab during the game. That means anyone can see them:

Your dedicated Palworld server doesn’t appear on this list as it’s not set to be a community server. To access it, you’ll need to use the field next to the Connect button at the bottom of the screen:

You can enter an IP address and the game port in this field. Then, click on Connect.

To find your server IP address, you’ll need to open the NameHero hosting control panel. Locate your Palworld server under your active services.

When you select the server, you’ll go to an overview page for the plan. This includes information on current server usage and status. Plus, you can find credentials like the server address and port:

Copy the server address and port and return to Palworld. Next, paste the IP address and port in the aforementioned field and click on Connect. Once you do that, the game will establish a connection with the server.

2. Join a Third-Party Server Using an Invite Code

If you don’t want to share the IP address and port for the server, there’s a more user-friendly option. Palworld enables you to send an invite code that provides direct access to the game world.

Every time you load a Palworld game with multiplayer enabled, the game generates a new invite code. You can find this code by opening the game menu and navigating to the Options tab.

Here, look for the Invite Code setting and click on the icon to reveal the code:

Copy that code but don’t close the game (or the code will reset). With the code in hand, another player can open Palworld, access the main menu, and select the option that says Join Multiplayer Game (Invite Code).

This will launch a new window where players can enter the invite code. Once the code is set, click on OK:

If the code is correct, the game will connect to the dedicated server. After that, the player will have to create a character if it’s their first time on the server.

3. Join Palworld Servers Using the Server Name

Another way to connect to a Palworld server is to search for the server name on the Palworld server browser. However, this is only possible if a custom server name is set.

So, if you’re the owner of the server, you’ll first need to set a custom server name. To do this, launch Palworld and go to Settings > General. In the Servername box, enter a custom name.

You’ll need to save your settings and restart the server to make sure the server name has been set successfully. Now, you can check if this has worked by clicking on Join Multiplayer Game.

At this point, you can use the top search box to find the server name. The process is exactly the same for servers that you don’t own (but those servers will need a custom server name so that you can find them). Finally, double-click on the server to join and connect.

Conclusion

Palworld makes it relatively simple to set up and join dedicated servers. If you already have a server or want to join another game, you can connect to it by opening the game and choosing the corresponding option in the main menu.

Within the main menu, you’ll find two options that will enable you to connect to a remote server:
