Palworld is an ever-expansive game that constantly receives new content like Pals, Weapons, and Islands to explore. The Palworld Feybreak update is the latest batch of content to grace the Pokémon-like.
This is the game’s beefiest update yet, introducing a massive new play space, resources, weapons, and so much more. It’s a great time to get involved with Palworld.
This article summarizes the top five things related to the Feybreak update, including Feybreak Island, a new Pal Expedition Station, and more.
What Is The Palworld Feybreak Update?
The Palworld Feybreak update is part of the game’s free content updates that have continued since its release in January this year. We’ve previously detailed Palworld’s Sakurajima Update, and have a few more articles, such as how to create a new Palworld world, that may benefit you as you prep to enter the Feybreak update.
Now, let’s get into the top 5 best features of the Palworld Feybreak update.
1. Feybreak Island
The core of the Feybreak Island update is, of course, Feybreak Island. This new island is six times the size of Sakurajima Island, bringing with it tons of new Pals and crafting materials, amongst other changes.
Many of these Pals and materials are ones you can only find on Feybreak Island. Hexolite Quartz is one such example of this. Hexolite Quartz is needed to craft new items like the Double Jump Boots.
Alongside these materials is a new faction, the Feybreak Warriors. These new enemies have a missile battery camp dominating the island — taking them down is the fastest way to make exploring safer.
Unfortunately, the one downside to this update is that you need to progress a reasonable way through the game’s first island to reach Feybreak Island. If you’re starting a new world, something we recommend to experience the new game modes, be wary of this requirement.
2. New Game Modes
Speaking of new game modes, the Palworld Feybreak update includes a Hardcore Mode and a Random Pal Mode.
Hardcore Mode
Hardcore Mode, which you can enable in your World Settings, makes player and Pal death permanent. That’s right — no more respawning Pals if they’re taken down during a difficult boss fight. Even worse, though, is your character’s death. If you die, your avatar disappears forever. All of your hard-earned items are gone, and you’ll need to start from scratch.
Random Pal Mode
This new mode has your world randomize Pal spawns. There are a few ways to customize this.
You can choose to randomize by region or randomize without limitations. The first option will allow you to randomize Pal spawns within a certain regional range. For example, maybe you randomize Pal spawns in snowy regions.
The latter option will randomize all of the Pal spawns in your world. This can get dangerous, meaning super-strong Pals may spawn in beginner areas. Be very careful if you turn this modifier on.
3. Quality-of-Life Changes
Any update worth its salt comes with some good quality-of-life changes, and the Palworld Feybreak update is no exception. Aside from introducing Feybreak Island to explore, the following changes are prime ways to improve your gameplay experience:
- Increased Climbing Speed: Your character’s general climbing speed is faster, saving you a ton of time in the long run.
- Pal Sphere Critical Hits: Pals now have a Pal weak spot for capturing. If you hit the weak spot (like their head, for example), you’ll get a “Sphere Critical” hit. This increases your capture rate.
- Field Boss Upgrades: When you defeat a field boss, you obtain Successful Bounty Tokens. These tokens give you permanent passive upgrades, providing another avenue for character growth.
- Better Pal Box Sorting: The Pal Box UI has a better sorting function, making it easier to sift between your collection.
- Pal Selling: You can now sell Pals to other players through the Flea Market option.
4. Predator Pals
Predator Pals are uber-strong versions of normal Pals. These enemies are very hard to take on but reward you with extra rare resources that can speed up your crafting and gathering.
These bosses require a team of multiple Pals with full upgrades, as well as some powerful weapons to defend yourself. Don’t take Predator Pals lightly!
Plus, these Pals don’t just appear on the new island. They can appear anywhere in your world.
5. Research Rewards
There’s a new mechanic called Research! You can conduct research at the Pal Labor Research Laboratory building. Doing research unlocks passives and other rewards that improve your base. Some affect actual work speed, otherwise known as Pal crafting times.
This mechanic will replace some of the game’s existing buildings, streamlining your base-building experience.
Of course, this list is only a small taste of everything you’ll discover in the Palworld Feybreak update. For instance, the update also includes a teaser for the upcoming Terraria X Palworld collaboration.
While we still have a bit before the Terraria update, this teaser comes in the form of a new weapon.
Now, we recommend exploring the game to get to Feybreak Island, discover its new Pals, and master its new mechanics.
