Minecraft is constantly introducing a new biome. While the game started with only a few biomes, such as the plains biome, it has since expanded to include dozens of them. One of the game’s more notable locations is its cherry blossom biomes.
Cherry blossom biomes (also known as cherry groves) bring gorgeous pink trees, which get their color from cherry leaves. These biomes also have unique flowers and wood types, and even a sapling you can use to transplant trees and make your own cherry groves.
This guide details everything you need to know about this exciting Minecraft biome. Let’s get into it.
Cherry Blossom Biome Minecraft Details
The cherry blossom biome is one of Minecraft’s more recent biomes, but it’s undoubtedly one of the game’s prettiest.
This new biome is found in mountainous regions within the Overworld and is rife with the coveted cherry trees. However, it’s rarer than other biomes and won’t always appear whenever you explore the mountains.

As the cherry blossom biome usually exists within a mountain biome, the latter’s benefits hold true. For example, you can find emeralds here, and exploring underground often results in a deep, dark biome.

Otherwise, this biome operates mostly like a normal one in that monsters appear at night, and you can find coal and other natural resources.
What Is In The Cherry Blossom Biome?
There are all sorts of unique things to find in a cherry blossom biome, such as blocks and ground ornaments that won’t appear elsewhere. We’ll get into each of them here, but the cherry blossom trees are most notable.
Cherry Blossom Trees
Cherry blossom trees, otherwise known as cherry trees, are arguably the game’s most beautiful natural findings.
Cherry blossoms litter a cherry blossom biome — adorned with pink petals that slowly fall as you explore nearby. It’s a natural effect that applies only to cherry blossoms, making them desirable items to return to your home base.

You can harvest these leaves with shears or chop down a tree to get the cherry log.
Cherry Log
The cherry log is a darker wood type that is not too far off from the dark oak log. It can be a striking part of any build, but its more exciting use is turning the log into a cherry plank.

Cherry Plank
A cherry plank is a bright pink plank that stands out from Minecraft’s more basic planks. While it can be used in normal recipes just like other planks, you can also use cherry wood to build bright pink structures as well as craft pink boats, signs, fences, doors, buttons, and a few other items.

Other items will default to their normal color, so make sure you only use cherry planks for pink items!
Cherry Trees Saplings
Finally, breaking up a cherry blossom tree will drop cherry tree saplings. These allow you to plant cherry blossom trees anywhere in your Minecraft world. Want the sapling to grow even faster? Use bonemeal on it!

Aside from these specific findings, slimes can spawn in Minecraft cherry blossom biomes, as can sheep, bees, rabbits, donkeys, and bats.

However, it’s important to note that the cherry blossom biome doesn’t naturally grow sugar cane or pumpkin patches. You must manually plant those instead.
Villages will not appear in these biomes, but Pillager towers will. This means that a cherry grove biome may not be the best for a long-term world. However, it can be an excellent place to found a vacation home or to have nearby as a visual treat.
How Do I Find A Cherry Blossom Biome?
Finding cherry blossom biomes depends on your game mode. If you’re playing the vanilla game, survival, the fastest way to discover a cherry grove biome is to search through the mountains.
While cherry blossom biomes can spawn in flat areas such as plains, this is a rare occurrence.

Of course, if you’re playing in creative mode, you can fly around the world until you find a cherry blossom biome. If you want to continue in survival mode, switch your game mode to survival using console commands or the options menu.
Some mods allow you to customize Minecraft biome appearances, which can be helpful, and some may even extend its usability.
However, if you absolutely cannot wait to find a cherry grove biome, you can appear in one instead when creating a new world.
How To Generate A Cherry Grove Biome
Start by selecting Single Player on the Minecraft main menu.

Select Create New World

Click on the World tab on the menu’s top half.

Repeatedly click on the World Type box until you get to Single Biome. Then, click Customize.

Select Cherry Grove. Then, click Done.

Finally, select Create New World. Minecraft will build your biome.

Now you can explore the biome at your will — pink leaves and all! Just be careful of dangerous mobs. While the area looks peaceful, the following mobs can appear:
- Witch
- Enderman

- Spider
- Skeleton
- Creeper
