Minecraft weapons and armor are essential for players who are trying to explore the world. Since the beginning of Minecraft, many players search far and wide to obtain the ore that will create the best equipment for them — diamonds.
Over time, however, diamonds became less valuable due to players mining a lot from their years of experience. This led to repetitive and less exciting gameplay for players. To make the game more exciting, the 1.16 Nether Update introduced a new material into the game — netherite ingots.
Netherite ingots are a rare material that is stronger and more durable than diamonds. They are very difficult to obtain because you need to find ancient debris blocks in the Nether. This Minecraft guide will show you how you can easily find and obtain netherite in Minecraft.

The Nether
The first step to obtaining netherite ingots is entering the Nether. To go into the Nether, you are going to need to build a Nether portal. After entering the portal, begin mining down or up depending on your coordinates to get the y-level where you can mine ancient debris blocks.

You can check which y-level you are at by pressing your F3 button on your keyboard. Your coordinates will be located on the left side of your screen where it says ‘XYZ’.

Ancient Debris
Ancient debris blocks can be found at y-levels of 8 to 22 in the Nether. However, they are mostly found and generated at a y-level of 15 in the Nether. Ancient debris usually spawns in veins of 1-3 blocks. They are easily recognizable by their brown-red color and a spiral pattern on the top and bottom of the blocks.

Ancient debris is highly durable and hard to find. To mine ancient debris, you will need either a diamond pickaxe or a netherite pickaxe. You cannot break them with explosives because they are blast-resistant. Due to their high blast resistance, you can also locate ancient debris by using TNT because you don’t need to worry about them getting blown up. Using explosives will make the process of finding ancient debris much more efficient.

You can also find ancient debris in loot chests of bastion remnants.

Netherite Scraps
Netherite scraps are one of the key ingredients needed to make netherite ingots. To obtain netherite scraps, you need to first smelt the ancient debris that you have mined. One netherite ingot requires four netherite scraps.

Put the ancient debris in a regular furnace or blast furnace and add any type of fuel into the furnace. After the ancient debris has been smelted, you will have netherite scraps.

Crafting with Netherite Ingots
To craft netherite ingots, you will need these resources:
- 4x Netherite scraps
- 4x Gold ingots
After you have found all the materials needed to craft a netherite ingot, put the materials on the crafting table in any pattern you want:

Using Netherite Ingots
Upgrading
Unlike diamonds or other ingots, netherite ingots cannot be used directly to craft armor or weapons. Instead, netherite ingots are used to upgrade diamond tools and armor by using the smithing table.
To craft a smithing table, you will need 2 iron ingots and 4 planks of wood. Then, put the materials on the crafting table in this pattern:

To upgrade your diamond tools and armor into netherite, you will need your diamond equipment and a netherite upgrade smithing template. These templates can be found in the treasure chests of treasure room bastion remnants.
After you have collected everything, place your materials into the smithing table in the sequence of smithing template, diamond equipment, and netherite ingot.

Your diamond equipment is now upgraded into netherite.
Crafting
Netherite ingots can also be used to craft a lodestone. These blocks can be used to alter the direction of where your compass points. If you have a lodestone placed down, compasses will point towards the direction of the lodestone instead of your spawn point.
To craft a lodestone, you will need nine chiseled stone bricks and one netherite ingot. Then, place the chiseled stone bricks and the netherite ingot on the crafting table in this pattern:

Now, place the lodestone in any location you like and your compass will now start pointing towards it.
Conclusion
Netherite tools are highly sought after because they are more durable and faster than diamond tools. This makes playing the game of Minecraft a lot easier, especially when fighting against bosses. If you still need help finding ancient debris or obtaining netherite, check out this guide.
