Palworld is packed with armor and other items to craft, but, like many survival games, crafting requires base materials. One very popular base material is Leather.
Leather is an essential item in Palworld, so it only makes sense that you’d want a ton of it. However, you might not know where to start with that. Fortunately, we’ve got you covered.
This guide will detail everything you need to know about Palworld Leather, including how to get Leather quickly, the certain Pals that drop Leather, and how to use it to better your journey.
Let’s get into things.
What Is Leather In Palworld
Leather is one of the most important resources in Palworld. It’s used in a wide variety of crafting recipes — many of which allow you to interact with Pals in meaningful ways, like riding them with a Saddle.

It’s also something you’ll need to create Palworld’s most defensive armor. Such armor is vital for end-game activities and catching/defeating higher-level Pals.
For instance, the Cold Resistant Pal Metal Armor is required for exploring many of the game’s colder areas, featuring a Cold Resistance of level two.

Feed Bags are another important set of crafting recipes that Leather is a part of. These bag types allow you and your team to automatically consume food, keeping them satiated without manual involvement.

Bigger Feed Bags provide you with more slots to place food in, keeping your team satiated while you focus on keeping your weapons and armor intact.
How To Get Leather Palworld
You can acquire Leather in a few different ways in Palworld.
To start, you can purchase Leather through a Wandering Merchant. Wandering Merchants are shopkeepers that sell a ton of different items, such as High Quality Pal Oil, Wool, and Leather.
One of the earliest places you can find a Wandering Merchant is the Small Settlement.
The Small Settlement Fast Travel point is located northwest of the starting area, at coordinates 74, -485 on the Map.

Know that Leather costs 150 Gold Coins, which is a bit expensive during the early game. Due to this price, it can be hard to get Leather quickly by buying it.
Instead, you’ll probably want to harvest it though Pals or via farming.
Let’s get into how.
What Pals Drop Leather In Palworld?
Certain Pals drop Leather when you capture or defeat them. As you’re playing the game, exploring and taking down Towers, you’re sure to come across Pal locations that drop the material.

Every Pal That Drops Leather
There are a ton of Leather dropping Pals in the game. Here’s the full list:
- Chillet – An ice-type creature that looks like a ferret and a dragon mixed. Wear some Cold Resistant Refined Metal Armor when attempting to catch it.
- Chillet Ignis – A fire alternative to its icy brethren.

- Vixy – Cute and small, this fox-like creature also drops Bones.
- Yakumo – A cloud-like dog with a horn on its head. Intimidating but cute.
It’s best to find where a lot of these Pals commonly spawn and grind them to get Leather for cheap. That said, once you’re a bit established, it’s best to build a Ranch and start farming Gold Coins.
Farming Leather In Palworld Using Gold Coins
You can unlock the Ranch pretty quickly in Palworld. Just get to level five in the Technology Tree and spend two points unlocking the recipe.
Once unlocked, gather 50 Wood, 20 Stone, and 30 Fiber to build the Ranch. Place it, and you’ll need to gather one Mau or Mau Cryst to farm Gold Coins.

How To Find The Mau
The Mau Pal takes on the look of an Egyptian Cat. It’s a Pal that’s a bit rarer than other Pals in that you won’t find it roaming around the world randomly.
Instead, you can only find it in dungeons or in a cage, imprisoned within various faction camps.
Fortunately, neither of these areas are too hard to find. Both are littered throughout the Map, making your chances of finding a Mau or Mau Cryst reasonably easy.
Once acquired, bring one to your Ranch, and it will start farming Gold Coins for you.

Now, it’s time to spend those Gold Coins on Leather at one of the game’s shops. As mentioned, the Small Settlement is probably the best place for an early player to go toward.
