Palworld base locations are some of the most important decisions you can make regarding the early game experience.
Base locations in Palworld require various considerations, such as its defensive capabilities, proximity to valuable resources like coal and ore deposits, and the room it has for building late-game structures like production lines.
Finding the best base location takes some time, but this guide can help you a bit.
What Does The Best Palworld Base Location Need?
While the Palworld best base locations are ultimately subjective, there are a few objective factors to consider when deciding where to build a base.
Defensive capabilities
Raids are a common mechanic in Palworld, requiring substantial defenses from you and your base. You may lose important structures and materials if you can’t fend off a raid.
Fortunately, your base location can serve as a natural defense against raids and other threats.
For example, if you choose to build on an island or a tall platform with only one point of entrance, you can quickly fortify your base to protect it from enemies.
The starting area has only one point of entry via a ramp, and it’s a great spot to set up defensive turrets and corral enemy raiders into one place.
Easy access to mining nodes
A good base location is near several ore nodes, coal deposits, and other valuable resources.
It is highly recommended to consider materials when base building, as your Pals will automatically harvest these resources if they’re in your base’s aura.
By having a Pal harvest materials, you can passively gain resources while exploring the world and completing other tasks.
Other resources to consider are ancient civilization parts, high quality pal oil, and similar materials that a Pal can’t gather by themselves.
Instead, you must gather them by opening chests or defeating enemies, and having a base nearby these resources provides an automatic fast travel point for farming.
The best part about base locations in Palworld is that you can have up to three of them.
This means that even if you’re happy with one base location, you can expand to another one wherever you’d like and gather even more resources.
Aesthetic appeal
Some players are more into the aesthetics of base building in Palworld, and the game does an excellent job of catering to that desire.
If you want to build a stronghold or other structures for visual purposes, you might not want a base near ore deposits.
Instead, you’ll want a flat space without nodes so you can focus on creating a small settlement.
This base type isn’t for everyone, as you might have to put more effort into defenses than a base with sloped terrain.
However, if there’s a will, there’s a way, and a thoughtful player can make any location work.
The Best Palworld Base Locations
#1. Windswept Plateau
The Windswept Plateau is a good spot for a first base — and you don’t have to take our word for it. Palworld’s tutorial pretty much begs you to build a base here!
There’s good reason for this, too, as this first base location is near many early game resources such as stone, wood, and Paldium fragments.
While you may have to stray for sulfur nodes and ore nodes later on, it’s hard to argue against the Windswept Plateau’s early-game viability.
It’s worth noting that this location also has natural choke points. The main ramp is one of its only accessible spots, making this an ideal location to set up a defensive fort.
#2. Fort Ruins
If you’re looking for a base with built-in defenses, the Fort Ruins is a good place to start.
This fallen castle features walls, towers, and even a gate you can take advantage of when building your base, saving you resources and time.
You’ve likely discovered its fast travel point as well, so you can probably start building right after reading this guide.
Even better, this base location often spawns chests you can open for rare resources, and there’s a beach nearby for gathering some water Pals.
However, this is an ideal base location to farm ancient civilization parts. Nearby is an alpha Chillet — a massive version of the ordinary Chillet Pal.
This monster is easy to beat with low-level weapons and often drops ancient civilization parts you can use for upgraded buildings.
#3. Desolate Church
The Desolate Church is one of the best base locations in Palworld for ore nodes.
Behind the church itself are eight ore nodes, along with some wood to gather and some beautiful red terrain for a refreshing change from your typical green, brown, and blue.
You can implement the church into your build or have it alongside your base. Plus, there’s a Statue of Power inside to spend your Lifmunk effigies on higher capture power.
While some locations might require heat resistant armor or other extra defenses, such as Mount Obsidian, we believe the best base locations are ones in which all Pals can exist.
Of course, there are many other places that would make an excellent base location.
Many in the Palworld community recommend building near the Sealed Realm of the Guardian for coal and sulfur nodes. In contrast, others say building on a Sanctuary is good for keeping enemies away.
Building Multiple Palworld Best Base Locations
What’s great about Palworld is that you can keep building new bases as you increase your base level.
For instance, at level 15, you can have three bases. While the game currently caps us at three locations, its Sakurajima update, coming later this month, will upgrade the amount of bases you can have.
The update’s new island will undoubtedly introduce new best base locations into the conversation, as well as new Pals to hunt and buildings to create.
