Who is Sebastian?

From his character description and background from Dev Update #12 by ConcernedApe, Sebastian is known to be a “rebellious loner who lives in his parents’ basement.” To add to that layer, he has a half sister who is Maru, and he feels that his sister gets all the attention and adoration while he’s left to rot in the dark.

Regarding interests and hobbies, Sebastian tends to get deeply absorbed in computer games, comic books, and sci-fi novels, and will sometimes spend great lengths of time pursuing these alone in his room. Out of the house, however, Sebastian will play at the pool table with his best friend Sam at the Stardrop Saloon. While he appears unfriendly to people he doesn’t know, you as the player could charm him and warm his heart.

There will be some changes to Sebastian’s activities if you’ve unlocked specific things in the game. You might find Sebastian working at his booth at the Desert Festival. But this only happens once you’ve restored the Bus Service. Moreover, if you’ve gained access to the Railroad, Sebastian might be standing by the tunnels of the train station, smoking there.

During a rainy day, you may also find Sebastian at the beach, standing at the end of the long pier at the left side of the fish shop. Another possible action during rainy days is that Sebastian will be at the saloon instead, standing by the red sofa.

Additionally, there are some days, you might find Sebastian at the clinic’s waiting room and examination room on Summer 4. Alternatively, he may also attend the Night Market during Winter 16.

There are some small time differences in the activities Sebastian does. More or less though, you’ll find him at his regular spots around the year.

Giving Gifts to Sebastian

Just like other romance options, you can give Sebastian up to two gifts per week (plus one on his birthday). This will raise or lower your friendship with him. Take note that giving gifts on his birthday will have an effect of 8x and will trigger a unique dialogue.

Love Gifts

Sebastian loves All Universal Love gifts which include the Golden Pumpkin, Magic Rock Candy, Pearl, Prismatic Shard, Rabbit’s Foot, and Stardrop Tea.

Other favorite gifts that Sebastian loves include the Frog Egg, the Void Egg, the Frozen Tear, Obsidian, Pumpkin Soup, and Sashimi. You’ll find that these gifts fit Sebastian’s melancholic personality.

Like Gifts

For Like Gifts, Sebastian will respond positively to All Universal Likes. However, there are some exceptions to this such as Flowers, Complete Breakfast, Farmer’s Lunch, Omelet, Pina Colada, and Artisan Goods other than Coffee, Green Tea, and Oil.

Besides those mentioned, you can also consider giving Sebastian a Combat Quarterly, Flounder, Monster Compendium, and Quartz.

Neutral Gifts

Then for Neutral Gift that Sebastian will respond neutrally to, these include All Universal Neutrals except the Combat Quarterly and Monster Compendium. Additionally, there’s All Fish except the Cap, Flounder, and Snail. Then there’s All Fruit except the Fruit Tree Fruit and Salmonberry. Lastly, Sebastian will also perceive neutrally All Milk.

Hate Gifts

Avoid giving All Universal Hates, All Eggs except the Void Egg. and All Artisan Goods to Sebastian. He’ll blatantly say that he hates the gift you have given him, deterring your relationship with him.

Other stuff Sebastian would hate for you to give include Clay, Complete Breakfast, Farmer’s Lunch, Omelet, and the Pina Colada.

Dislike Gifts

As for Dislike Gifts, Sebastian doesn’t like All Flowers except the Poppy and All Universal Dislikes except Clay, Fish, Frog Egg, Obsidian, and Frog Egg.

Other items aside from that include Chanterelle, the Common Mushroom, Daffodil, Dandelion, Ginger, Hazelnut, Holly, Leek, Magma Cap, Morel, Purple Mushroom, Salmonberry, Snow Yam, Wild Horseradish, and Winter Root.

Don’t make the wrong choice in the present you give him, especially if you are hoping to get married to Sebastian. He’ll be honest with what he likes, dislikes, loves, and hates. It’s important for you to talk to Sebastian regularly and pay attention a bit to his dialogue to find out his interests to further your relationship with him in Stardew Valley.

How do you trigger Sebastian’s Heart Events?

To trigger a Heart Event in Stardew Valley, you as the player have to go to varying locations across the game map to develop your relationship with Sebastian. Be sure to reach the needed amount of hearts to trigger each event.

• Two Hearts – Enter Sebastian’s room when he’s there.
• Four Hearts – Go to The Mountain between 11:00 AM and 5:00 PM
• Six Hearts – Enter Sebastian’s room when he’s there
• Eight Hearts – Go to the Beach on a rainy day between 12:00 NN and 11:00 PM
• Ten Hearts – Go to The Mountain between 8:00 PM and 12:00 MN
• Fourteen Hearts – Go to The Mountain on a rainy day between 6:00 AM and 7:00 PM

Each of these Stardew Valley Sebastian events will trigger an interesting cutscene wherein you’ll get to further talk to Sebastian and learn more about his life and develop your friendship into romance. What happens when you marry Sebastian?

You can marry Sebastian by purchasing a Mermaid Pendant for 5,000g from the Old Mariner and then proposing to Sebastian. Upon proposal, Sebastian will accept and both of you will get married three days from your proposal date.

You and Sebastian will then return to your farm and will have a unique room in the right-side area of the house and his motorcycle will be placed in a special area outside. Officially, he has now become your husband.

As your in-game husband, Sebastian will be helping you out with some farm tasks. This includes the following:

• Watering crops
• Feeding the farm animals
• Watering the animal bowl
• Repairing broken fences
• Giving you gifts
• Decorating the house

Another thing you should know upon being married to Sebastian is that he will quit smoking. But this depends on the number of hearts you have with him whether he’ll take up smoking again or not.

Other things to know about Sebastian

For other interests of Sebastian, you can also take him to the movies. He loves the movies “Mysterium” and “It Howls in the Rain.” For concessions, he will love Jasmine Tea and the Stardrop Sorbet.

As for movie dislikes, Sebastian isn’t fond of “The Brave Little Sapling,” “The Miracle at Coldstar Ranch,” and “The Zuzu City Express.”

Some trivia to know about Sebastian is that despite him hating Beer, he’ll give it to you on Winter 28th to celebrate the new year if you’re married to him.
