Stardew Valley is littered with monsters. From flying creatures to hidden boss battles to the basic Slimes, you’ll find yourself battling more than your fair share of creatures.
However, some of these monsters are rarer than others. In fact, a few of them are required to finish tasks on the game’s Special Orders board — a bulletin board on which villagers ask for special requests. Should you choose to take one request, you’ll find yourself needing Prismatic Jelly.
This guide will cover everything you need to know about Prismatic Jelly, including the Prismatic Slime that drops it, where to find the Prismatic Slime, its spawn rate, and a few other facts about the elusive creature.
What Is The Prismatic Slime Stardew Valley?
The Prismatic Slime is a modified version of the normal Slime in Stardew Valley.
As you may know, the normal Slime is a regular enemy you can find on certain Farms at night, in the Mines and the Secret Woods, and in a few other places. There are multiple benefits to fighting Slimes, including leveling up your character or collecting one of the many items it can drop, like Amethyst, Dwarf Scrolls, or Sap.
However, the normal Slimes are one of the easiest enemies in the entire game. In fact, you will fight a regular Slime without even thinking about it a lot of the time.
This isn’t the case when it comes to higher-level Slimes. Stronger Slimes have more health, higher attack damage, and other boons that make them a more formidable enemy to fight than their regular brethren. However, that effort comes with its benefits, such as much better items.
For example, there are Gold Slimes you can find in all sorts of dungeons throughout the game. These Slime types have a 0.1% chance of spawning, but they can drop a gold coin that’s worth 250. Even better, there’s a chance that they can drop additional golden coins. Interestingly, your luck does not affect the chances of this Slime spawning.
All of that said, we’re going to focus on the Prismatic Slime.
The Prismatic Slime is a Slime that appears when accepting the “Prismatic Jelly” special request from the Wizard in the Tower. The Wizard’s special requires you to bring a Prismatic Jelly to the man himself. This isn’t as easy as it sounds, however, as finding and defeating the Prismatic Slime takes a bit of luck alongside your skill.
How To Find The Prismatic Slime
You can only find the elusive Prismatic Slime after accepting the Wizard’s special order. Otherwise, the monster spawns will not occur.
Once you accept the quest, it will spawn in the Quarry Mine, the Skull Cavern, or the regular Mines. It can spawn on any level, but the chances of this are very low. In fact, the Prismatic Slime has a 1.2% spawn rate on each floor, though this is also affected by your character’s daily luck. You can check your daily luck by viewing the Fortune Teller on the TV in your bedroom.
Pay attention to its color to distinguish a Prismatic Slime from a regular Slime. A regular Slime is simply green, while the Prismatic Slime changes colors over time.
Note that these special Slimes have 1000 HP and do much more damage than regular Slimes, so come prepared with excellent weapons and some healing items.
That said, there is a rare case where a Prismatic Slime will spawn as a normal slime class rather than the class of a Special Slime. If that happens, the Prismatic Slime will not drop any Prismatic Jellies.
You can tell the difference between a normal or a Special class Slime by its antenna. Special Slimes have a star antenna and will have more health while dealing more damage. Be careful when fighting these off.
Either way, the most important part of finding a Prismatic Slime is having the Wizard’s special order, so let’s get into how to acquire it.
Finding the Wizard’s Special Order
You can find the Wizard’s quest on the bounty board in front of the Mayor’s house at a random time. Of course, you must have unlocked the Wizard before it has a chance of showing up.
The Prismatic Jelly quest demands that you bring the Wizard, well, a Prismatic Jelly. You can only acquire Prismatic Jelly from defeating Prismatic Slimes. Fortunately, Prismatic Jelly has a 100% chance of dropping from the Prismatic Slime.
But, after accepting the Prismatic Jelly quest, keep in mind that you only have five days to complete the mission. If you take more than five days, the quest will expire, and you’ll have to wait for it to reappear.
Upon acquiring a Prismatic Jelly from a Prismatic Slime, you must bring it back to the Wizard’s Tower and complete the special order. He only needs one Prismatic Jelly, and any others you acquire will disappear after completing the quest. This is fine, as there’s no other use for Prismatic Jelly aside from completing this quest.
When you complete the special order, the Wizard will give you 5,000 gold and a recipe for Monster Musk.
No matter what, finding the Prismatic Slime takes a bit of luck. Why not try to speed up the process with some friends online?
