In every major update, Minecraft adds a new mob or a couple of them to the game, bringing new adventures and challenges to players. One of the most recent mobs added to the game is the Breeze, a wind-based mob that comes with the Tricky Trials update.
The Breeze protects the Trial Chambers and they’re one of your main obstacles to finding Trial Keys to unlock the treasures Vaults in the chambers hold. These mobs also have unique drops in which you can use to craft useful stuff.
If you’re considering heading into a Trial Chamber and facing the Breeze they spawn, you should be prepared on how to battle them. You’re in luck because we’ve got right here everything you need to know about the Breeze such as its basic information, how to find and defeat it, and the loot you can get from the mob.
What is the Breeze?
Appearing after triggering Trial Spawners, the Breeze is a wind-based mob that moves around through the air. Resembling the fire elemental mob, the Blaze, the Breeze attacks by firing wind charges at players.
When the Breeze moves around, it could potentially trigger traps and levers around you, possibly making your battle with the Breeze much more challenging. It’s best if you face the Breeze with other players so that you can limit the ground coverage of this mob and limit the direct line of sight of this mob from hitting you.
In terms of further lore of the Breeze, as it resembles the Blaze, it’s speculated the two elemental mobs could be related. With the Blaze residing in the Nether with the extreme heat temperature from the surrounding lava, the Breeze seems to fit in the Overworld where wind and natural weather conditions thrive.
How to find the Breeze in Minecraft 1.21?
Looking for Breezes isn’t that difficult. There are two ways you can look for the Breeze. One when in survival mode, and another if you’re in Creative mode.
Survival Mode
To find some Breezes, you must first look for a Trial Chamber as these will contain the Trial Spawners that will spawn the Breeze. Trial Chambers are discovered through Trial Explorer Maps which are only sold by Journeyman-level Cartographer Villagers. Here’s a step-by-step guide on how to get a Trial Explorer Map and using it to find a Trial Chamber:
Step #1: Save up 12 Emeralds and a Compass
First, you should save up 12 Emeralds and a Compass.
You will use these to trade with a Journeyman-level Cartographer later on.
Step #2: Look for a Journeyman-level Cartographer Villager
Next is looking for the Journeyman-level Cartographer Villager.
If your village’s Cartographer is not at this level yet, you’ll have to level them up by constantly trading with them to reach that level.
Step #3: Purchase the Trial Explorer Map
Once you’ve got your desired Cartographer level, you can then purchase from them the Trial Explorer map.
You’ll then have the Trial Explorer Map in your inventory that’s ready to use.
Step #4: Use the Trial Explorer Map
In line with using the map, you can simply keep the Trial Explorer Map on your hotbar and use it just like any other map.
You’ll find a white pointer that indicates your direction and where you are facing. For the Trial Chamber, this is signified by the four-point-like mark that resembles a flower.
Be sure to pack enough food, weapons, and tools if you plan to travel to the Trial Chamber since the distance is often far.
Step #5: Find the Trial Chamber
When you’ve arrived at the mark of the Trial Chamber, you’ll then have to dig down. The beginning of the Trial Chamber often spawns between Y-level -20 to -40.
You won’t miss the chamber since it covers a vast area of space. It also helps to know that Trial Chambers are covered in Copper Blocks and Tuff Bricks.
Step #6: Look for the Breeze
Now that you’re inside the Trial Chamber, you can then look for the Breeze. Generally, the Breeze spawns only in Trial Chambers. They spawn in a particular room of the chamber with Chiseled Tuff Blocks.
Breezes will spawn from Trial Spawners surrounded by Chiseled Tuff in Trial Chambers. The Chiseled Tuff Block is characterized by its spiral-like designs seen on each of its faces.
Once you enter this room, you can then trigger the Trial Spawner which will spawn the Breeze and you can then battle it.
Creative Mode
If you’re in Creative Mode, finding a Trial Chamber is much easier.
You can simply use Minecraft commands to automatically generate the coordinates needed to locate the Trial Chamber.
Simply type “/locate structure” in your in-game chat then suggestions will appear on what you want to locate. The entire code is “/locate structure minecraft:trial_chambers.”
Upon entering this, the game will then show the coordinates of the nearest Trial Chamber coordinates.
Afterwards, you can then click the coordinates in the chat which will automatically teleport you to the Trial Chambers. It’ll be the same process for locating the Breeze wherein you’ll have to find the Chiseled Tuff Block-decorated room.
How do you defeat the Breeze in Minecraft 1.21?
As you’re in the chamber and have spawned the Breeze, you can then fight it. The Breeze glides through the air and is quite hostile towards you. Mainly, the Breeze will shoot their Wind Charges which are the projectiles Breezes use as their main attack weapon.
Movement and Attack Behavior
In terms of behavior, if you’re in the Breeze’s line of range within 16 blocks, they will shoot their wind charges at you. You’ll see an animation of a burst of wind damage when you’re hit by the wind charges.
You’ll also get a knockback plus the half-heart damage when being hit. While it’s pretty low, it also puts you at risk of gaining fall damage, especially knowing the elevated structures of the chambers.
If you attempt to shoot a projectile against a Breze, they’ll also repel these. Moreover, the Breezes are immune to getting fall damage, so hitting them off a platform won’t help you defeat them.
Strategies for Defeating the Breeze
When attempting to fight the Breeze, it helps to carry a melee weapon of your choice and a shield. You’ll be able to block off the wind charges with your shield. Using a Bow and Arrow won’t help you when facing the Breeze.
Another strategy is totally deflecting the wind charges at the right moment with your melee weapon. Just be careful when doing this since you may hit other players.
Besides that, you must continue moving around. If you stay in one place, the Breeze will easily target you. You can jump and run around and hit the Breeze every now and then until it’s defeated.
What loot can you get from killing the Breeze?
Upon defeating the Breeze, it drops only two things upon death. One of the main items the Breeze can drop is the Breeze Rods. You can get around 1 to 3 Breeze Rods after defeating one.
Similar to the Blaze Rod, the Breeze Rod can be used to craft things. There are two items you can craft with the Breeze Rod which are the Mace and the Wind Charge. A heavy melee weapon, the Mace deals heavy damage but with a slower attack speed.
While for the Wind Charges, you can throw these as projectiles, knocking back mobs and dealing some damage. You can also use Wind Charges to propel yourself into the air.
Other than the Breeze Rod, you can also get some Experience Orbs as a drop. You get around 10 XP orbs upon the Breeze’s death.
Overall, the Breeze may seem like not much of a threat as a hostile mob, however, if not careful, they can deal significant fall damage with their knockback Wind Charges. Avoid being in direct view of the Breeze and you’ll be able to attack them and eventually defeat them.
You can also consider bringing in your friends when you plan to farm some Breezes for their Breeze Rods. Do keep in mind that more Breezes will spawn depending on how many players you are in a chamber. This means you can also get more Breeze Rod drops.
