If there’s one mechanic that’s consistent amongst nearly any video game, it’s leveling up. Leveling up is a guaranteed way to increase your power in most video games, though the ways you level will differ depending on the gameplay experience.
Palworld is no exception. The Pokemon-like game by Pocket Pair has its own forms of leveling up, including capturing new Pals and Pal species or spending a hefty sum on crafting materials to create new items. If you’ve been curious about the fastest ways to level up in Palworld, we’ve got you covered. But first, let’s discuss the benefits of leveling up in the first place.
What Is Leveling Up In Palworld?
The game’s entire progression system revolves around leveling up. For example, the leveling process contributes to both your character and your Tech Tree progress. That’s right — alongside the opportunity to increase your stats, each level-up provides you with Technology Points you can spend on new crafting recipes.

Point is, if you’ve ever wondered how important leveling is in Palworld, know that it’s a massive amount. Pretty large chunks of the game are locked away until you reach a certain level, including its hardest enemies and the ability to unlock special items.
While we’ll mainly focus on how to level up your character’s stats, know that you can level up Pals and even your Pal box through a few of these strategies.
How To Level Up Fast In Palworld
Let’s go over the fastest ways to level up in Palworld.
Capturing Pals
A notable way to level up fast in Palworld is to capture Pals. You’ll gain EXP every time you capture Pals, and after capturing a certain amount of them, you’ll earn a huge XP boost.

If you’re in the early game, simply bringing some capture spheres around to capture Pals will help you gain levels surprisingly quickly. As you level up fast, you’ll be able to craft more capture spheres and continue the capturing loop — focusing on new Pals to capture as you keep exploring.
Defeating Pals
If you don’t feel like capturing Pals, simply defeat them to gain some experience points. You can use melee or ranged attacks to take down Pals, as well as command your own party to attack. In fact, you can have your party passively attack Pals while you explore, netting you free experience points at any given moment.

We highly recommend farming higher level Pals in this way, as they’ll provide more XP than lower level Pals.
Clear Dungeon Bosses
While roaming around the open world, you’ll notice cave openings that end up being Dungeon Entrances.

Head inside to find a linear area full of Pals, enemies, and loot. Move on through to find some pretty tough enemies before it opens up to a Boss. These are big versions of your typical Pals and require a bit of extra thinking to take down.

You can choose to defeat or capture these Bosses, and you’ll receive a good amount of loot either way.

Defeat Tower Bosses
Tower Bosses are the game’s big baddies and are more unique challenges than the game’s Dungeon Bosses. The vast majority of these bosses are difficult and will require powerful weapons and armor.

You’ll discover towers as you adventure around the open world, and beating them unlocks a new Fast Travel point.
Also, keep in mind that while you can catch Pals in Dungeons, Tower Bosses are one-off challenges that you must beat by lowering their HP to zero. There are no shortcuts here.

Alpha Pal Bosses
Similar to the Tower and Dungeon Pals, Alpha Pal Bosses are oversized versions of Pals that roam around the open world. They’re more difficult than a normal Pal, but provide tons of experience points.

It takes an in-game day or two for some of these Bosses to respawn, which is why this is one of the select few methods we recommend doing on the side while harvesting resources or completing other various tasks.
Customize Your EXP Rate Settings
If you’re open to altering the Palworld experience a little bit, you can alter some custom settings to change how much EXP you earn for achieving different goals.
Here’s how to do so.
1. Click Start Game
Click Start Game on Palworld’s main menu.

2. Select Your World
Select the World you want to adjust or create a new one.

3. Select Change World Settings
Click on the Change World Settings button.

4. Click Custom Settings
Select Custom Settings.

5. Drag The EXP Rate Slider
Finally, adjust the experience rate slider to the position you’d prefer. You can increase the rate multiplier to twenty.
Feel free to adjust other World Settings as well, such as the Pal appearance rate.

Exploration
Exploring the Map is another great way to level up fast in Palworld. If you consistently stay busy finding new Fast Travel points while you roam around, you’ll level up faster than you might think.
Every time you activate a Fast Travel point, you gain a certain amount of experience points. Of course, that amount varies based on your EXP rate slider from the previous tip.

Targeting Fast Travel points makes focusing on other tasks a bit easier as well. For example, you can start catching specific Pals on your way to a distant Fast Travel point, creating a loop of EXP gains while completing various tasks. If you’re focused on leveling up your party as well, you’ll experience some quick Pal levels along the way, resulting in new moves to battle with.
Now that you’re aware of how to level up fast in Palworld, why not try playing the game with some friends and increase your EXP gain rate even more?
