How To Get Trial Keys In Minecraft: The Ultimate Guide

Trial Keys were added in the Tricky Trials update which was released June 13th, 2024. This update added a new structure called The Trials, as well as a new entity and weapon. It also added Trial Keys which can be used to gain many different items.

How To Get Trial Keys

There are two different kinds of Trial Keys. There is a regular Trial key as well as an Ominous Trial Key. Trial Keys are obtained three different ways while Ominous keys are obtained one way. Trial Keys have a chance of dropping from Corridor Decorated Pots, The Entrance Room, and there is a chance for a key to drop by completing a Trial Spawner. To get an Ominous key you must complete a Trial Spawner with the Bad Omen effect which can be collected by killing Pillagers.

What To Use The Trial Keys For

Trial Keys can be used in the Trial Vaults. Trial Vaults are found inside the Trial Structures and can obtain many different items like The Mace. Trial Vaults have two different appearances, one being Blue and the other being Yellow. A Yellow Vault can only be opened with a Trial Key and a Blue Vault can only be opened with an Ominous Key. To use the Keys you must right click on a Vault with the Key, the prize will then pop out of the cage allowing you to pick it up.

Trial Chambers

The Trial Chambers is a new structure that spawns underground. These structures spawn in the deepslate layer, Y-level -20 to Y-level -40. Trial Chambers are very easily noticeable by their different appearance being a deepslate brick outer wall and copper on the inner part. The easiest way to find a Trial Chamber is by buying an Explorer Map from a Cartographer Villager. This Map will point you to the nearest Trail Chamber

The Mace

The Mace is a new weapon that can be found inside the Trial Chamber Vaults and it is very powerful. The Mace has a 2.225% chance to spawn in a Vault Chamber. You can craft The Mace by spawning and defeating The Breeze as well as finding a Heavy Core in one of the Vault Chambers. The Heavy Core has a 7.5% chance of spawning in an Ominous Vault.
