We’ve been working on a better way to handle the backup process at NameHero, and we’ve finally settled on Jetbackup. Note that this is different from the DropMySite service, which is a premium add-on for NameHero accounts. DropMySite allows you to generate offsite backups. Jetbackup is a free service and comes with all accounts including reseller ones!
How NameHero Automatic Backup Works
NameHero maintains two backups of your full cPanel account – one daily, and one weekly. This backup contains everything. Files, databases, DNS entries, e-mails, cron jobs – everything. The only difference between the daily and weekly backups is the e-mail folder.
With Jetbackup, you don’t need to contact NameHero support to restore a file, a database, or even your entire account. You can see at a glance, the list of your existing backups and handle everything on your own. Other web hosts tend to make this process a bit difficult – maybe the make you open a ticket. Others even charge for restorations!
With NameHero, you don’t need to worry about any of that. You have unlimited, fine grain restorations available for you. And Jetbackup also allows you to create snapshots of your website at no extra charge!
How Jetbackup Works
When you log into your cPanel account, you can see the Jetbackup section as shown here:
Alternatively, you can just search for “Jetbackup” in the cPanel search and find the dashboard. As you can see, there’s a separate section for all the various functions.
Full Account Backup List
When you click “Full Account Backups”, you see a list of all current backups available to you. This will consist of one daily, and one weekly automatic backup as shown here:
From here, you can download each of them onto your local system if you want. It’s always a good idea to have some off-site backups of your account in case something goes wrong at the server level!
You’ll note that there’s no option to restore your full account from this screen. This is because you almost never need to restore it in its entirety. It’s far more effective to just replace a single database, or a single file or folder. And for that, we have the appropriate sections as shown below.
Restoring File Backups
When you enter the file backup section, you’ll once again see the two backups sections like this:
Clicking on “File Manager” will take you to an actual file explorer where you can select individual files and folders to restore as shown here:
It’s as simple as that! No need to contact support.
Creating and Downloading Snapshots
Another great feature is the “Snapshots” tool. With this, you can create an individual snapshot of your entire account at a single point in time – let’s say in time for a major upgrade. And you can download it. The snapshot has the following restrictions:
- Limit of 100,000 iNodes
- Limit of 20 GB per account
- Valid of 7 days
- Can only have one snapshot at a time
These limits are to keep the load on the servers as low as possible.
Available Even for Resellers!
What’s amazing is that this feature is even available to you as a reseller. This means that you can offer this great functionality to your clients out of the box. Keep in mind that many large web hosts like Hostgator offer far less than this, and don’t allow you to automatically restore your accounts in a granular fashion. Providing this option to your clients, allows you to generate massive value.
With the addition of Jetbackup, NameHero adds yet another amazing feature to its already feature-filled hosting service!

Can you instruct how one would know which files to restore?
John says
Also, could you specify how to restore a website using the full backup download?
Last question, how does this compare with Softaculous backups?

Any idea why NameHero opted to not include the “Restore” feature within the Full Backup Module?

We’re in the process of upgrading to JetBackup 5 and you can do this in your panel. For JetBackup 4, you need to contact support as these should be a “last resort” effort to restore your files. As a huge warning, we have had issues where customers with large accounts attempt to restore a large account and the Backup starts to run in the middle, destroying the backup. We have implemented safety checks for this now, but again, a total account restore should only be done in severe cases. A better (and safer) option is to restore individual files/mySQL databases/emails. But regardless, before you go to restore anything, I HIGHLY suggest making sure you have a Full Account Backup downloaded on your local computer.

Thanks, Ryan,
have JetBackup 5 on our Cpanel but it’s only showing a daily backup without white-labeling (namehero.net) is showing up.
