Having ran online businesses my entire career, I know how important uptime is.
Just one hour of downtime can be extremely costly to an online business as you instantly lose visitors, prospects, and even current customers.
In today’s instant gratification world, if people cannot access your website, they’ll be off to your competition in milliseconds.
Personally, if I click a link on social media, and it doesn’t load within a second or two, I’m off never to be seen again.
NameHero’s Vision
When I started NameHero in 2015 I wanted to be able to provide the same high speed cloud infrastructure I had being using within my own online businesses.
With two-decades experience I had lots of trial and error to develop an infrastructure that was reliable, secure, and scalable.
I know first-hand what can happen when a website goes viral and what it takes to keep it online and secure.
Unfortunately to have such a resource it was expensive and time-consuming.
It was my vision with NameHero to take this and make it available to the small business owner with affordable pricing.
99.9% Uptime Since 2015
After our initial launch in 2015, I wasn’t completely sold on the idea that another web hosting company would survive given all of the competition.
Even today, when I do my competitive research, I get exhausted at the number of companies out there and can’t even grasp my head around the number of options customers have when it comes to choosing a web hosting company.
Knowing this at NameHero, that’s why we focus on building our business around the customer and providing the same experience we would expect from a web hosting company.
While we can preach this until we’re blue in the face, the results speak much louder than our marketing.
That’s why we publish third-party uptime reports each year, to show actual server uptime (not network).
Much of our competition will claim 99.9% uptime, but if you read the fine print, they’re actually talking about network uptime meaning their servers never lose internet connectivity.
This can mean multiple upstream providers, backup generators, and a number of other things.
At NameHero, when we say 99.9% Uptime, we’re talking about actual server uptime.
NameHero 2018 Uptime Reports
Here are the real-life uptime reports from 2018 showing this on many of our hosting nodes:

As you can see, each of these nodes represented at least 99.9% uptime for the entire year of 2018.
You can view these same reports for 2017 and 2016 here.
It would be foolish to try and claim 100% uptime as the downtime incurred on many of these nodes included brief reboots and important server updates/security patches.
Unfortunately when dealing with computers, such work is necessary to maintain performance and security.
As we hit the ground running in 2019, we hope our current and prospective customers will find comfort in the fact we place such a high priority on keeping their websites online.
I’ve filmed a video where I discuss our position in detail:
