Are you tired of GoDaddy’s expensive domain renewal fee? You may want to transfer your domain to your trusted hosting provider, such as NameHero.

If you currently have a domain(s) registered with GoDaddy and want to know how to transfer it, you’re in the right place.

Transferring a domain from GoDaddy can seem like a daunting task, but it’s pretty simple when you know what to do.

Transferring Domains from GoDaddy to your hosting provider is easier than it seems. In this article, I’ll walk you through the steps involved.

This step-by-step detailed guide will take you through all that you need to do transfer a domain from your GoDaddy account to NameHero.

I will include everything you need to know about the transfer process. I’ll also share some tips to ensure a smooth transfer. Let’s get started!

Why Should You Transfer Your Domain From GoDaddy To NameHero?

You might want to transfer your domain from GoDaddy to NameHero for a few reasons.

  • Firstly, GoDaddy is now one of the most expensive hosting providers on the market. You will save your business some money by switching to a more affordable option. You can switch to a domain registration service that gives you the best domain names at affordable prices.
  • Secondly, NameHero is known for providing excellent customer support with fast and responsive service. You’ll have your domains in the trusted hands of experts.
  • Additionally, NameHero offers more advanced features, such as free SSL certificates, one-click WordPress installation, and automated backups – all of which can streamline your website’s performance and security.

How To Transfer Your Domain From GoDaddy: Four Easy Steps

Step 1: Review Your Pre-Transfer Checklist

Before proceeding with the domain transfer process, make sure that your domain is ready to be transferred. Create a pre-transfer list and ensure you have everything you need.

I recommend that you start by reviewing the following checklist for GoDaddy domain transfers:

  1. Your domain must be at least 60 days old to be transferred anywhere.
  2. Domain privacy should be disabled, and the domain must be unlocked. To do this, visit your GoDaddy account and click on the domain that you want to transfer. Next, go to the ‘Manage Domain’ tab, disable domain privacy, and unlock your domain by toggling it to the left. Check out the screenshot below for a visual aid. domain lock | select transfer domain
  3. Next, Make sure you have the EPP code from your GoDaddy account. The EPP code is a unique code assigned to your domain that you’ll need to provide to Namehero to initiate the transfer process. Go to your GoDaddy account, select your domain, then click “transfer to another registrar”. A checklist will pop up, and once you click next, your GoDaddy screen will look like the screenshot below:

Step 2: Initiate A Domain Transfer

After you’ve prepared everything in the transfer checklist above in your GoDaddy account, it’s time to initiate the domain transfer process.

Head over to NameHero and fill out the domain transfer form. Here’s a screenshot of what the page looks like:

During checkout, you’ll be requested to enter your domain name that you wish to transfer and the EPP code GoDaddy provided.

Once you’ve completed the checkout process, NameHero will send a transfer request email to your domain’s administrative contact email address.

Note: Make sure not to miss this confirmation email; check your spam folder too!

Step 3: Verify And Approve The Domain Transfer Request

After initiating the domain transfer to NameHero, you’ll receive an email notification that will ask you to confirm the domain transfer request.

This email notification is sent to the administrative email address listed on your GoDaddy account.

Following the instructions in this email to confirm the transfer request is important to ensure the transfer goes through successfully.

Finally, log into your GoDaddy account and approve the domain transfer request.

Step 4: Wait For The Transfer To Complete

After approving the domain transfer request from GoDaddy, you’ll receive an email notification from Namehero indicating the transfer is in progress.

A domain transfer process typically takes 5-7 business days. However, the waiting period can sometimes vary depending on factors like GoDaddy’s registrar release policy.

Once the transfer is completed, you’ll receive another confirmation email from NameHero.

Congratulations, you have successfully transferred a domain from GoDaddy. And you’re now the proud owner of a domain registered with NameHero!
