I’m really surprised at the number of landing pages I see on a daily basis that have contain absolutely no social proof at all. By this I’m talking about adding Google+, Facebook like, LinkedIn share, Twitter tweet, etc.. It takes what? Five minutes tops to add them all to your page?
“But Ryan why the hell do I want to do that… I want them to convert?” Of course you do but as the social revolution continues you WANT visitors to share your content with their friends. People do not want to be advertised too. They find it intrusive and distracting. However if their friends share content people don’t look at it like advertising. This is a major factor that is going to separate the men from the boys
Back in June Google Analytics added Social Engagement Tracking to their platform. I decided to take a look see at the Grind and see the quality difference between visitors that are socially engaged vs. those that are not socially engaged:

Every day I used to visit CNN.com in the morning to see what stories were breaking. Now I find myself visiting Facebook as the news breaks there first. Remember when Osama Bin Laden was killed? I found out on Facebook. Same with the recent earth quakes in Oklahoma. I knew their was a quake nearly 30 minutes before any news outlet picked it up!
Ruck and I are going to continue to talk more-and-more about social engagement and the major effect its going to have on the entire advertising industry. As an elite Internet marketer this isn’t something you should be neglecting. People like what their friends like. Don’t forget this on any site or campaign you create. Big changes are happening, don’t be left behind.
(Don’t forget to share this post with your friends – ha)

How do you add those share-buttons on your site if you're not using wordpress? I mean on simple landing pages?
Thanks
See here Tim – http://developers.facebook.com/docs/guides/web/ then just google "add twitter button" and "add google+ button"
Merci 🙂 (Thanks in French)
