Nearly four years ago I was sitting in my office in downtown Kansas City, Missouri wondering why I could not find a high-speed, reliable web host that was affordable to recommend to my clients.
We Started NameHero Out Of Necessity
I had been building web servers since 1998 and felt it shouldn’t be so hard to find a solid web host to recommend.
Having previously owned a web hosting company in the early 2000s (sold in 2005 because I was in college) I decided to jump back into the industry.
Trying to start a web hosting company in late 2014, some people thought I was crazy.
How could I compete against billion-dollar companies such as GoDaddy?
How could I go head-to-head with Endurance International Group (EIG) that had bought up some of the most well-known names in the industry?
Despite all the questions, I decided to do it anyway.
My plan was very simple:
- Put the customer first
- Provide high-speed, reliable, and scalable cloud web hosting
- Make it affordable for companies of all sizes
Bootstrapped from my own personal contributions and working around the clock, NameHero was born.
Our Commitment To Resellers
Getting started in such a large industry we decided to first target the Reseller Hosting industry.
Understanding the need for high-speed web hosting, we felt Resellers were in dire need of these resources.
Many companies that used to lead the industry, began losing interest in Resellers and had been greatly reducing their resources to these type of packages.
Since 2015 we’ve attracted thousands of Resellers from across the globe helping them provide our same high-speed, reliable infrastructure to all of their customers.
The response and success has been beyond humbling.
Best Web Hosting For WordPress 2018
As we’re now established throughout the Reseller Hosting industry, we’re now working on really ramping up our marketing to the WordPress Web Hosting industry.
Recently, the popular YouTuber, Darrel Wilson decided to include NameHero in his annual Best Web Hosting For WordPress competition.
Darrel and I met last year when we decided to team up and do a video tutorial together on Reseller Hosting with WordPress.
Here are the results from Darrel’s competition:
1. Siteground
2. GreenGeeks
3. NameHero
4. Hostpapa
5. A2Hosting
6. Liquid Web
7. Bluehost
8. WP-Engine
9. Godaddy
10. Hostinger
11. Media Temple
12. InMotionHosting
13. HostGator
14. TMDHosting
15. Ipage
Darrel concluded these rankings based on Support, Price, and Speed.
Take a look at our speeds:
I’m also very proud to announce we achieved 100% Uptime during this 30-day test.
You can watch and see results from the full competition here:
Being extremely competitive by nature, I’m a little disappointed we didn’t achieve that number one spot, but I’m still very pleased with the results.
At NameHero we believe we can improve every single day, so you can rest assured, our team is already working on what we can do better.
Be Careful Not To Waste Your Money
I was also very happy how Darrel talks about “Managed” WordPress Hosting.
Companies such as WP-Engine market the crap out of this word, but as you can see from his results, this is just another excuse to get you to pay more for nothing.
Remember, they don’t even offer 24/7 Ticket support unless you have a ‘custom’ package that is more than $300/mo. They also don’t even offer phone support unless you pay at least $115/month! Wow!
Where We’re Heading
In conclusion, I want to send out a personal thank you to Darrel for including NameHero in this competition.
I also want to thank our entire team here at NameHero for their hard work and dedication to our customers that have allowed our growth over the years.
Finally, and most importantly, I have to thank our customers for their loyalty and support, as without them, we would not be here!
As we race towards the end of 2018, look for NameHero to continue our growth and constant improvement on our services.
We stand true to our core values and look forward to a very bright future. And we have no plans on ever selling out to a larger corporation; web hosting by entrepreneurs for entrepreneurs!
