There is a lot of money to be made the Name Hero affiliate program.
Some of the largest affiliate marketers I know promote web hosting services.
Because every business, individual, or entity that wants an online presence needs some type of web hosting.
The audience is very broad providing marketers countless opportunities to capitalize.
Why Direct Linking Doesn’t Work Anymore
Back in the mid-2000s affiliate marketers got rich by simply bidding on web hosting related keywords on Adwords and direct-linking their traffic to the web hosting affiliate program of their choice (i.e. HostGator, BlueHost, etc.).
As you can imagine this brought out affiliates in droves that were all trying to get their slice of the money pie.
Unfortunately Google took a look at this and didn’t like the affiliate model. They didn’t want the same advertiser bidding on the same URL with low quality pages, hence tweaked their quality score and booted off many affiliates.
This ended the web hosting “gold rush” for a lot of people.
While you can obviously still refer people direct linking, it’s not near as effective or scalable as it once was.
Lead Generation Funnels
A better way to go about promoting web hosting (or affiliate programs in general) is to create lead generation funnels.
Rather than immediately going for the sale [direct linking] you can give the visitor something for free [to create trust] and ease into making the sale.
This is especially effective for the web hosting industry as there are so many choices out there, it gives you an opportunity to first connect with your audience so you can provide a recommendation based on trust.
Let’s take a look at one of my examples:
- We target people interested in Reseller Hosting and offer them a free eBook in return for their lead (name/email)
- Once we get the lead, we give them the eBook via email where they have to confirm to be subscribed to our list (double opted-in)
- We then use an automated email sequence to gently email them for a 7-day-period with helpful information to ease them into buying
- It only takes 2 sales per day each month to make $91,250 per year 😉
Setup Your Funnel In 30 Minutes
I personally started building lead generation funnels in 2009 (see my case study where I made $61,796.49 from one funnel).
Back then, it took me about one week to build an effective funnel.
I had to first map out everything then code all my pages by hand, get my offers, setup the funnel steps, etc.
While it was extremely profitable it was also very time consuming.
Nowadays, you can build a funnel in under 30 minutes using two simple tools:
I built my example funnel, ResellHero.com, using a software application called Clickfunnels in about 15 minutes. The page gets an average 80% opt-in rate, meaning 8 out of 10 people that visit the page give me their lead.
Clickfunnels makes it extremely simple as they have a point-and-click editor that allows me to drag and drop elements and have a lead generation page setup in no-time. I can then export the page out and upload to my web server and have a fully functioning funnel without having to write one line of code.
You can use the link and get a 14-day-trial of their service to see if it’s worth your time.
I use an email service provider called Convertkit to store all of my email leads and automatically email them a sequence.
Since they integrate directly with Clickfunnels, I can just enter my API key, and have it all setup with my page no problem.
The automation is very powerful as once traffic is live on my funnel, the sales process starts going.

To demonstrate this further, I filmed a presentation that shows the inner-workings of my funnel and how these can be used to promote our affiliate program:
