How To Add A Countdown To Your Landing Page

How To Add A Countdown To Your Landing Page

countdownIf you’re looking to increase your optin rate on your lead generation arbitrage campaigns split test using a countdown on the page.  I’ve found that if people feel a sense of urgency, they’re more likely to enter their information and proceed with the conversion funnel.  There’s a lot of ways to go about this but using the jQuery framework seems to work the easiest for me.

To set this up, simply call the jQuery library in your header with the following code:

<script type=”text/javascript” src=”http://ajax.googleapis.com/ajax/libs/jquery/1.4.4/jquery.min.js”></script>

That code calls the library on Google’s API server so you don’t even have to worry about downloading it.  Next you just have to call and include the script also in the header of your page:

 <style type=”text/css”>@import “jquery.countdown.css”;</style>
<script type=”text/javascript” src=”jquery.countdown.js”></script>

You can then add it to your page within a DIV tag:

$(selector).countdown({until: liftoffTime});

Pretty simple trick that can potentially double your optin rate!  Here’s a pretty sweet live demo of the script in action.
