I always use Domain Privacy Protection when I register my domain names. If not, the amount of SPAM that comes in is almost unbearable.
Most recently, I registered a name without it just to see how bad it has become. Almost immediately I started receiving phone calls pitching me everything from website development to lucrative business opportunities, the emails also followed suit.
As long as their is money being made, SPAM will continue to be a problem. Here in the United States, we have agencies such as the Federal Trade Commission who try hard to fight these scammers, but as soon as they shut one down, it seems like ten more pop-up. The problem is they’re operating out of other countries that they have no jurisdiction over, making them extremely hard to track down.
Most recently, here at NameHero, we’ve been cracking down on fraudulent users that try to signup for our Dedicated Servers in attempts to SPAM or commit other types of online fraud. Fortunately for us, we’ve been around a long time, so we typically catch them before they even get started. I have to give it to them though, they have certainly gotten a lot more sophisticated in recent years. Fake IDs, fake company websites, fake telephone bills, etc. all while paying with stolen PayPal accounts (change your password frequently folks).
In our effort to help combat online fraud, we’re offering our Free Domain Privacy Protection through the month of April. So for the next month you can register your name and have your personal information protected by our WhoisHero Privacy Protection service. WhoisHero simply replaces your personal information with theirs but forwards important communications to your email and discards the junk. Most of the time, just seeing this service will defer spammers from attacking you:
Simply select the “ID Protect” option when registering your next name and we’ll do the rest of the work automatically for you. Make sure to spread the word to all your friends/family members as they can also transfer their domains for us and enjoy the special!
We look forward to serving you!
