I am hounded by account managers from various companies day in and day out about one of my properties. While I used to just delete the emails and move on, I started explaining to the reps the only way we accepted new creatives on the website was through pre-payment. As you can imagine, this scared quite a few off. But it didn’t scare everyone off!
Come up with a minimum and request it every time one of these account managers contacts you about putting more display inventory on your website. I generally request a pre-payment of at least $1000.00 before I will allow an unknown advertiser on the website. Sometimes it doesn’t work out but sometimes it does!
So stop deleting the annoying messages you get from the sketchy ad companies that you do not know. Request pre-payment and the result could surprise you.
