Back when I got started web hosting in the late nineties, I bought servers from a datacenter in Florida called Dialtone Internet. Looking back, the entire process was a major pain in the butt.
In 1998 the cost of bandwidth was much more expensive than it is now and it took us on average five to seven business days to get new dedicated servers online.
