How To Change Your PHP Version And Add Extensions Inside cPanel

How To Change Your PHP Version And Add Extensions Inside cPanel

At NameHero we believe in flexibility!

Being a web developer myself, I understand how frustrating it can be needing to test a script on a certain version of PHP, only having to re-build the entire server to do so.

Most “shared” web host, stick you with one version, and you have to work around that.  Not us.

At NameHero customers can select their PHP version inside of cPanel: 4.4, 5.1, 5.2, 5.3, 5.4, 5.5, 5.6, and 7.0!

Recently, there has been a lot of talk about PHP 7 in the industry, but not all software vendors have successfully complete their migration.  This makes our selector exceptionally awesome as you’re able to test and then revert back if something gets broken.

How To Change Your PHP Version

As you can see, anyone can change the PHP version without having to know a thing about coding, servers, etc.

Once you have the correct PHP version set, you may find yourself needing to add a specific extension (such as Soap, Curl, Mcrypt, Pdo, etc.) or change your max_upload values.

The “other hosts” make you submit a ticket to have these manually installed and require the entire web server to be re-build.  Not us.

You can add/remove the exact PHP extensions you need right inside of cPanel:

How To Install PHP Extensions

As you can see, there is no need to make a custom php.ini file and overcomplicate this entire process.  Simply login to cPanel and take full control over your PHP per website!

[…] Multiple PHP Versions – Been dying to try out PHP 7?  Instantly switch PHP versions inside of cPanel, customize your limits, and enable extensions.  We feel like custom php.ini files are overly complicated and completely unnecessary.  Upgrade PHP on your website to fit your schedule! […]
