Palworld isn’t your normal survival game. Sure, you have to worry about food and death, but here you can tame creatures called Pals. These little guys can help you fight, build, craft, and more! In this guide, you will learn how to get started in this crazy world.
Getting Started
Starting your Palworld adventure, you are going to be greeted by a tutorial that will teach you basic mechanics and just help you all around in your start. The tutorial will quickly bring you to level 8, giving you a strong advantage in the world around you.
Technology Points
Technology Points act like a skill tree. Every time you level up, you unlock a new row of items and gain some Technology Points. Don’t spend all of them as you will need extra points later on. Here’s a list of some you can skip:
- Repair Kit (level 3)
- Hanging Trap (level 4)
- Fire Bow (level 5)
- Fire Arrow (level 5)
- Wooden Living Room Furniture Set (level 5)
- Mounted Torch (level 6)
- Wooden Tavern Furniture Set (level 6)
- Sign (level 7)
- Bat (level 7)
- Poison Bow (level 8)
- Poison Arrow (level 8)
- Wooden Tavern Cabinet Furniture Set (level 8)
- Tropical Outfit (level 9)
- Tundra Outfit (level 9)
- Sandbag (level 9)
- Bear Trap (small) (level 10)
There are Blueprints that you can get out of chests. These can replace the need to unlock the items in Technology, such as the Old Bow.
Enhance Stats
As you level up, you gain one stat point. You can use these to upgrade your Health, Stamina, Attack, Work Speed, and Weight. Stamina and Weight are really important and are the best to level up. Being able to run longer and carry more is always nice to have. Health is always good to put a few points in. Having more health allows you to take a few more hits. Work Speed doesn’t do too much as later on your Pals will be doing most of the crafting for you. Attack is your player’s Attack. This doesn’t affect Pals who are doing most of the work in fights anyway. Avoid leveling this stat as it takes a lot of points to do any real damage. You also don’t want to do a lot of damage as a player because most of the time you are trying just to chip the enemy’s health so you can have a better chance of catching it.
Building a Base
When building your first base, you don’t want to travel too far from your starting point because raids happen. The further you venture off, the harder the raids will be to defend.
When you have finally found the spot you want to build, make sure you have Pals who can do basic work such as:
- Watering (Pengullet, Fuack)
- Planting (Gumoss, Tanzee)
- Gathering (Tanzee, Cattiva)
- Handiwork (Cattiva, Tanzee)
- Transporting (Cattiva, Tanzee)
Make some chests to store what you have collected and allow your Pals to place what they can gather around somewhere. As well as make a Berry Plantation and Feed Box to help automate feeding for your Pals. Make sure to place beds so your Pals have somewhere to sleep and are comfortable. Keeping a close eye on your Pals is important. The lower their sanity, the more likely they are to become depressed and start working slower and sleeping much more.
Catch Them All
Once you’ve settled into your new base, you’ll be crafting a lot of Pal Balls. We’ll need them to catch as many Pals who can help us fight and contribute to our base. Look out for Eikthyrdeer and Nitewings, as these two Pals are very helpful in the early stages. You can unlock the Eikthyrdeer Saddle at level 12 in Technology, and Nitewings become available at level 15. Be sure to grab a few Eikthyrdeer – their level 2 Lumbering skill allows them to passively generate wood for your base while you’re out exploring.
Once you unlock the Ranch and build one in your base, Vixy and Mau become valuable additions. Vixy can farm Pal Balls, ensuring a steady supply for catching new recruits. Mau collects coins for you, allowing you to buy essential supplies and upgrades from traders.
Element Chart
There are 9 different elements in Palworld and each Pal has 1. Some Pals can have two like Chillet with Ice and Dragon Pals whereas Lifemunk is only grass. Below is a list of all Elements:

Leveling Up
Leveling starts to slow down, but there’s a trick to help accelerate your experience. The Capture Bonus, each pal has one. Every time you capture a new unique pal for the first 10 times, you’ll receive bonus experience. This will propel you to level 20 in no time!
Fighting the Tower of Rayne Syndicate
This fight might seem scary at first with its massive 30,000 HP Grizzbolt. But fear not, it’s not that difficult as long as you have your Pals healthy and ready to fight. Dodge enemy attacks, be prepared to swap out your Pals, take cover behind walls when needed, and remember you can always redeploy Pals to help them dodge attacks.
What Next?
Well, you’ve beaten Zoe and Grizzbolt and you’re not sure what to do next. No worries, by now you should have some Ancient Technology Points. Unlock the Egg Incubator and place it in your base. Once that’s done, grab your Nitewing (hopefully you got one earlier) and with your brand new saddle, go Egg Hunting!
Extra Things To Do:
- Keep an eye out for green glowing statues called Lifemunk Effigies. Collect enough of these and head to a Statue of Power to upgrade your Catch Power. This will increase your ability to catch higher-level Pals.
- Build a second base, Once you reach Base Level 10 you can place a second Palbox on the map.
Conclusion
Congratulations! You’ve conquered the early stages of Palworld and built a solid foundation for your adventure. With a loyal team of Pals and a functioning base, the world is yours to explore!
